Teaching

Samarpan meditation ('samarpan' means surrender), which his organisation presents as a practice without technique that he received from his gurus in the Himalayas. Practitioners are asked to meditate for thirty minutes a day without expectations, alone or together in meditation centres. 1, 2, 4, 6

Who it is for

For people looking for a simple, daily silent meditation in a devotional setting centred on the guru.

Life and places
  • According to his organisation he lived in the Himalayas for sixteen years with several gurus before returning to society to share Samarpan meditation. 2, 5
  • In his own account his first guru was Shri Shiv Baba, whom he met in the Himalayas and who, he writes, authorised him to give the experience of the divine to others. 11, 12
  • He introduced Samarpan Dhyanyog in 1994 and has since led meditation programmes in India and many other countries; the work now goes under the name Guru Tattva. 2, 6
  • His organisation gives its address as the Gujarat Samarpan Ashram in Mahudi, near Gandhinagar in Gujarat. 5, 7

Where to start

  • The eight-day Dhyan Shivir, held each month without charge by practitioners in many countries, in which talks he gave at earlier Mahashivirs are presented; his organisation calls it the first step. 4
  • His autobiographical series Himalaya Ka Samarpan Yog (in English Samarpan Yog of the Himalayas), which tells of his years with his gurus. 5, 8
  • His written messages for the Gahan Dhyan Anushthan 2021, which his foundation publishes as voiced videos in Hindi and English on its YouTube channel. 10, 11
Public context
  • His foundation, Guru Tattva, runs ashrams and meditation centres in India and abroad; programmes are offered without charge. In Germany, introductions and groups are run by the association Samarpan Meditation Deutschland. 3, 4, 9
