In short
Advaita Hub uses no tracking, no analytics and no advertising. Fonts and all files of the public pages come from our own server. We store only what a function needs, and nothing is passed on for other purposes.
Visiting the pages
When you open a page, the web server records the IP address, the time, the page requested, the browser’s identification and the referring page. This is needed to deliver the pages and to keep the server secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The records are deleted after 31 days. The server runs at netcup GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany, which processes these data on our behalf.
Reading the public pages sets no cookie. If you choose a language, a cookie remembers this choice for a year; it contains only “en” or “de”. If you switch between the day and night view, a cookie remembers this for a year; it contains only “light” or “dark”.
E-mails about gatherings
If you subscribe, we store your e-mail address, your language, the teachers you follow, how often you want e-mails, whether you want online gatherings and, if you enter one, a city or postcode with a radius. The place is looked up in a list on our own server; it is never sent to another service. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you give by confirming the link in the first e-mail.
Addresses that are never confirmed are deleted after a week. Every e-mail contains a link to change your choice or to unsubscribe; unsubscribing deletes your address and everything stored with it. E-mails are sent from our own mail server. On these pages a technically necessary session cookie is set, which expires after 120 minutes without activity on pages that use a session.
Contact and reporting a mistake
If you write to us through the contact page or report a mistake on a profile, we store your message, its subject, the page and its language and, only if you enter them, your name and your e-mail address; for a teacher suggestion also the teacher’s name and where to learn about their teaching. We do not store your IP address; to limit messages to five per hour, a hashed form of it is kept in a temporary cache for an hour. A message our spam filter refuses is not stored; the server log notes only the reason. The legal basis for general enquiries and teacher suggestions is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you give with the checkbox of the form and may withdraw at any time; for corrections it is our legitimate interest in correct pages (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
If you leave an e-mail address, we reply by e-mail from our own mail server, and the reply is stored with your message. Answered and closed enquiries are deleted together with our replies 12 months after they were closed. Write to us if you want an enquiry deleted earlier. On these forms a technically necessary session cookie is set, which expires after 120 minutes without activity on pages that use a session.
Selection page of the invited round
Invited participants who take part in the selection give a name and receive a personal key; their votes, notes and assessments are stored with this name so that they can be changed later. Two cookies remember the access code and the personal key (only as encrypted values). The basis is the participants’ consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
Backups
The database is copied every night on our server; the copies are kept for at most 14 days, then one per week for eight weeks. In addition, the nightly server backup stores the database with the storage provider pCloud. Deleted data disappear from the backups as these rotate.
Links
Profiles and gatherings link to the pages of teachers and organisers. When you follow such a link, their privacy policy applies.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you may withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future. Write to the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
